Philippe Kahn
On this day in 1952, entrepreneur Philippe Kahn was born in France. In 1982, he founded Borland International, which sold the Turbo Pascal line of products as well as application software. Turbo Pascal was far ahead of its time, featuring the first IDE and blazing compilation speed, even on the slow MSDOS PC’s of the time. Turbo C, Delphi and other products followed, all very popular with home hobbyists. Kahn is also the inventor of the camera phone, and continues to start new companies.
 Richard Stallman
Today, in 1953, is also the birthday of Richard Stallman. Born in the United States, Stallman is the creator of GNU and the Free Software Foundation.
